Beautiful , old world hotel in a stunning location; staff very nice; room was big and view from the room was lovely; grounds well maintained; grocery store and restaurants near by; Restaurant evening meal was over-whelmed on our first night there--a tour group...we therefore ate in the bar area and the food was delicious. Tea and coffee are available in the lounge area in the evening and this is a wonderful treat; Breakfast is outstanding and the view from the breakfast room is wonderful;

We enjoyed our stay. The view from our room was beautiful. Our room in the old building was well appointed and comfortable. It seemed recently renovated and doesn't match the dingy description cited by others. You're paying for the destination. The breakfast was ample and delicious. The views from the common areas was gorgeous. Please stop by Ciderhuset for cider and a meal. It's a lovely property up the road a ways. It was one of the best meals we had in Norway.

Paula

Gorgeous view! Buffet is excellent and so is the staff at the restaurant. I’d also recommend lunch at the bar. The lounges were elegant and perfect for relaxing with a coffee in the evening. While the room price was expensive, I found the cost of food and drinks to not be overpriced. We had a really nice stay and it’s worthwhile to experience the beauty of this hotel and the surroundings.

I paid extra for a fjord view room, and we got a room with a balcony in the "modern" building on the 8th floor. The view was spectacular and well worth the extra cost. The view made the entire stay! The dinner buffet was bountiful and delicious. The breakfast buffet was good, but not as amazing as the dinner. We also ate in the hotel bar one night and that food was well prepared also.

Malinda

The view from the room were amazing! The historic part of the hotel is a must see. There's alot of history there, including antiques and old artwork. The view from the dining and lounging areas is also spectacular. The dining options were great. We chose to eat a la carte in the bar for dinner and a nice buffet for breakfast.
